What mechanisms are involved in needle mesotherapy?

During a needle mesotherapy treatment, we introduce individually selected mixtures directly into the skin with a thin needle using shallow injections. This enables the necessary substances to be delivered deep into the skin – where no cream can reach (!). In addition, the punctures themselves activate biorevitalization processes in the skin, such as stimulation of collagen and elastin production with fibroblasts.

Indications for needle mesotherapy:

  • dehydrated, flaccid skin which lacks firmness
  • discoloration
  • cellulite
  • excessive hair loss
  • anti-wrinkle prophylaxis

What is mesotherapy used for?

Mesotherapy of the face and its surrounding area is used to reduce wrinkles, treat acne lesions and scars, moisturize and tone the skin, reduce discoloration and bags under the eyes. It is also used as a proven anti-aging prophylaxis.
Body mesotherapy is used in the process of reducing stretch marks and cellulite. A special feature of needle mesotherapy is the ability to adapt appropriate mixtures to selected parts of the skin, acting on local problems. The needle mesotherapy treatment can be successfully used in various parts of the body, also on the hands, feet and scalp.

When to avoid needle mesotherapy?

  • Allergy to ingredients of preparations
  • Pregnancy and lactation
  • Diabetes mellitus (especially unregulated)
  • Active cold sores and other skin infections
  • Autoimmune and neoplastic diseases (up to 5 years after recovery)
  • Use of anticoagulants (including acetylsalicylic acid, heparin, acenocoumarol)
  • Use of oral corticosteroids
  • Advanced eczema, psoriasis
  • Tendency to scarring and fibrosis

What parts of the body can needle mesotherapy be applied to?

Micro-needle mesotherapy is most often performed on the face, neck and neckline. The scalp and hands are also often subjected to it. If necessary, mesotherapy can be performed on all areas of the body.

How long does the needle mesotherapy treatment last?

The duration of the procedure depends on the size of the treatment area. Typically it’s around 40-60 minutes.

How does needle mesotherapy work?

Needle mesotherapy improves the quality of the epidermis and dermis. It counteracts skin aging, increases its tension and density. It evens out the skin tone as well as moisturizes and nourishes it. If it is performed on the scalp, it prevents hair loss and nourishes hair bulbs. Thanks to it, you can reduce wrinkles, discoloration, cellulite and stretch marks.

What does the needle mesotherapy treatment look like?

We deposit active substances into the patient’s skin by means of very shallow injections. The individual punctures are made at a distance of approx. 0.5 cm from one another.

When can the procedure be performed?

The treatment can be performed regardless of the time of year.

Are the effects of needle mesotherapy immediate?

Immediately after the treatment, the skin is tense, but you should usually wait a few weeks for the final results.

How long does it take to recover from mesotherapy? What are the common side effects of needle mesotherapy?

After the treatment, swelling often appears on the skin, which is the body’s natural reaction to the treatment.
Edema after mesotherapy occurs especially around the eyes and usually lasts up to 2-5 days after the procedure (people with sensitive skin and prone to edema, for example suffering from kidney or thyroid diseases, may have them longer, for a few weeks).
After the treatment, lumps with the preparation may also remain on the face and bruises may appear. The rate at which the lumps disappear after mesotherapy depends on the preparation used. Some preparations disappear within 6 hours of the procedure, while for others this process can extend up to 72 hours.
Bruises after mesotherapy appear due to the violation of small blood vessels, which is difficult to avoid with such a large number of punctures, especially in people with a tendency to hematoma. The risk of bruising increases if you take anticoagulants (such as aspirin) up to 2 weeks before surgery.
In rare cases, allergic reactions may occur – usually in the form of erythema, which disappears up to several hours after the procedure.

Recommendations after needle mesotherapy

After the mesotherapy treatment you should:

  • avoid the sun and solarium (up to 4 weeks),
  • avoid hot baths, saunas, swimming pools, peelings, the use of rough towels and depilation in the treatment area, intense physical effort, and large temperature fluctuations (7 days or until the skin has completely healed),
  • refrain from consuming alcohol, applying makeup, touching and massaging the skin, using irritating cosmetics, e.g. based on alcohol (for 24 hours after the procedure)
  • use sunscreen with SPF 30-50

How often should needle mesotherapy be done?

Although the results are visible after the first treatment, mesotherapy gives the best results after a series of 3-6 treatments at intervals of 2-3 weeks. In order to maintain the effect, a reminder treatment should be performed every six months. Another, equally good scheme is the alternating performance of needle mesotherapy and the dermapen treatment in a series of 4-6 treatments in total.

What do mesotherapy mixtures contain?

Mesotherapy with hyaluronic acid is very popular. In addition, the active substances contained in mixtures include: stem cells, anti-wrinkle peptides, mineral salts, plant extracts, vitamins and others. Mesotherapy with platelet-rich plasma is also very popular.
