Want to use your body’s potential to stop the aging process? Or maybe you are allergic and you are afraid that no aesthetic medicine treatment is for you? Remember about platelet-rich plasma!

The mistakenly named “vampire facelift” treatment using platelet-rich plasma is not actually a facelift nor has anything to do with a vampire. Some time ago, a photo of Kim Kardashian with blood on her face circulated the world. Then, madness started. Women convinced that thanks to the treatment with plasma they will turn miraculously into another Kardashian, rushed to the clinics. Some of them were disappointed… because platelet-rich plasma is something really wonderful – but it works in a completely different way than promoted by the media and some dishonest clinics. The main benefits of using platelet-rich plasma are firming, elasticity and increased skin density. Platelets suspended in plasma contain growth factors that stimulate fibroblasts to produce collagen and elastin and stimulate the formation of better-quality intercellular connections. Due to the autologous origin of the preparation (from the patient’s blood), there is no possibility of an allergic reaction – the preparation is fully biocompatible.

The treatment with the use of platelet-rich plasma applied to the scalp strengthens the hair bulbs and stimulates their growth.

How does the treatment work?

Platelet-rich plasma is obtained from the client’s blood after centrifugation. Then three fractions are formed in the test tube: red layer of erythrocytes, yellow layer of plasma and the smallest layer between them – a ring composed of plasma with a large number of platelets. It is the latter that is crucial for the procedure.
This platelet-rich plasma is a plasma rich in platelets, which, thanks to their properties, stimulate the body to regenerate at the injection site. It is very important that this little fraction be used during the procedure. The use of plasma poor in platelets will have no effect.

What are platelets and how do they work?

Platelets are morphotic components of blood produced in the bone marrow. They play many important functions in the body (e.g. they are involved in blood clotting). Aesthetic medicine treatments use the fact that they store growth factors that are important for rejuvenation. These are proteins that stimulate repair processes and enable tissue regeneration after damage. They cause cell biostimulation.
Platelet-rich plasma growth factors include: transporting growth factor TGF, platelet growth factor PDGF, epidermal growth factor EGF, vascular endothelial growth factor VEGF, and fibroblast growth factor FGF.

Platelet-rich plasma effects

The treatment with platelet-rich plasma improves the density, elasticity and blood supply of the skin. It enables the smoothing of fine wrinkles and has a very positive effect on the healing process after other aesthetic treatments. It helps to reduce dark circles and bags under the eyes.

Platelet-rich plasma on the scalp reduces hair loss and stimulates hair bulbs to grow. PRP does not cause facelift, which is incorrectly suggested by the marketing name.

Who is platelet-rich plasma for?

As an independent treatment, platelet plasma is great for people with the first signs of aging. It is also an effective remedy for damaged and dried skin due to excessive sun exposure.
People with more advanced aging processes should use platelet-rich plasma as a supplement to the therapy – after using other aesthetic medicine treatments such as microneedle radiofrequency, chemical acids or hifu.
It works well as an auxiliary element of therapy for acne scars and stretch marks.

Platelet-rich plasma – the course of the procedure

Before the procedure, the skin is disinfected. The client’s venous blood is then collected. After the blood is centrifuged in a laboratory centrifuge, platelet-rich plasma is collected from the test tube. In our clinic, we usually administer them with mesotherapy – thanks to this, plasma losses are small, in contrast to the massage technique, where most of the platelet-rich plasma is wasted.

What does the skin look like immediately after the treatment?

Immediately after the treatment, the skin may be red and swelling may appear. There are often large tumor-like plasma deposits (especially on the forehead), which should not be alarming – they will be absorbed soon.

When can you return to your daily activities?

This is usually possible the day after the treatment.

How often should the treatment with plasma be repeated?

The best results are achieved by the use of a series of 3-4 treatments with an interval of 4-6 weeks 1-2 times a year.
