Cosmelan and Dermamelan treatments are amongst the most successful non-invasive whitening treatments in the world of cosmetology and aesthetic medicine. These procedures have two stages. The first stage takes place in the salon where a special mask with strong exfoliating properties. The second stage takes place in the client’s own home and involves adhering to the treatment plan designed at the clinic.
How do they work?
Melanogenesis (the production of melanin) happens thanks to an enzyme called tyrosinase. The components of Dermamelan and Cosmelan concoction inhibit it, which enables a gradual reduction in discolouration.
The therapy is individually tailored to your skin phototype. It is primarily aimed at the elimination of blemishes of hormonal origin (melasma) but it is also effective in getting rid of age spots, post-inflammatory discolouration, and freckles. It is also used as an anti-aging prevention treatment.
In 99% of the cases, the intensity of the discolouration spots is reduced by 95%! First effects are visible after just a week of the therapeutic process, but we might have to wait for up to a month to see the full results in the skin colouring and overall condition. However, one side effect of this procedure is increased sensitivity and peeling of the skin, which can last for over a week. This means that, in some cases, our clients have to take some time off work.
The procedure performed at the salon is the beginning of the treatment that needs to be continued in form of everyday care for months. Strict adherence to the aftercare routine after the procedure is essential to achieving desired outcome.
How to prepare for the procedure?
- Avoid chemical peels, laser treatments, and using products containing exfoliants (acids, retinoids, etc.) 14 days before your Cosmelan and Dermamelan appointment,
- Avoid depilation of any kind, waxing, and sugar waxing for 7 days before your appointment,
- Do not allow your skin to become sunburned, avoid solariums and tanning,
